| Summer Nights in Israel |
| Last Modified at:28-Jun-2010 |
On Thursday, 1 July 2010, Tel Aviv will hold its annual White Night celebrations, with numerous events throughout the city from sunset till sunrise. The White Night celebrations commemorate the July 2003 UNESCO designation of the White City of Tel Aviv, with its exceptional collection of Bauhaus architecture, as a World Heritage site and the city’s well-deserved reputation as the city that never sleeps.
Some major events of the White Night will include:
Illumination of 50 Bauhaus buildings
Special guided tours by the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Tourism Association
Musical performances along Rothschild and Ben-Gurion boulevards
Community singing and jazz at the recently-opened and restored train station
A sunrise concert with Gidi Gov at the Tzuk Beach
Outdoor activities at the Performing Arts Plaza
Jazz, swing, blues and reggae music at the Bialik complex
A Dixieland jazz band playing on an open-roof traveling bus
Those who wish to continue partying will be able to join the opening of Caesarea Harbor Summer Nights with a colorful kite display on Friday, July 2nd. Along with traditional Jewish music, the kites will fly every Friday during July as part of the Oneg Shabat Events.
But if you are not really the kite flying type, you can still enjoy the free large screen movie show that will take place at the harbor every Tuesday in July, or the music ensembles that will play at sunset every Tuesday in August. The Harbor also offers tourists and visitors restaurants and cafes on the sea front, original art galleries and the "Journey in Time" - a virtual, multimedia journey through Caesarea's past using the most advanced technologies available.
